Each year in June, we have the 'Round the Island' yacht race - it's quite a big thing on the Isle of Wight. Many of the sailors come a cropper around the Needles and it can be quite exciting. Anyway, this illustration shows a swimmer who has decided to go for a swim in the bay around the Needles, not realising he has picked the day of the race.
 
It is titled 'Always Pick Your Day for Swimming Around the Island Very Carefully'.
 
I used my Staedler waterproof pens to draw outlines and then coloured it digitally. I enjoyed using different textures for the elements of the picture as well as real fabric in the layers.
 
This lovely print will come to you on Matte Archive paper, brilliant for keeping it's colour and mounted in a card frame with a cellophane bag to keep it looking as special as when it left my studio.
